VPR Logo Cuyamaca Camp-out 2017: Photos posted to Facebook!

Trailride campsite

Dates: July 13, to 17, 2017

The Cuyamaca Camp-out replaced the Vista Palomar Ride, many years ago. This event is one of our most successful events and a major fundraiser.

Our camp out is hosted at Los Vaqueros Group Horse camp which is located about 2 miles east of Highway 79, inside Cuyamaca Rancho State Park about a mile from Lake Cuyamaca and Stonewall Mine, between Julian and Descanso. The park offers over 100 miles of trails with pine and oak forests, meadows, streams, ocean and desert views and Lake Cuyamaca offering boating/kayaking and fishing.

The shady lake ride is always a favorite with campers. Be prepared to see, turkey, deer, coyotes, fox, squirrels, birds and beautiful sunsets.

The park provides picnic tables, BBQs, a large fire ring, and an outdoor kitchen to prepare group meals, manure trailers to keep our stalls clean including rakes and wheelbarrows to make clean up easier.

One of the most appreciated valued amenities are the restrooms with toilets and hot showers.

Our Campers enjoy, group breakfasts and dinners, along with fantastic raffles, poker rides, and friendships.

VPR always includes an annual keepsake and this year each camper embellished their own with craft items provided by the committee.

Although the site allows for up to 50 vehicles and 80 people it’s generally full to capacity with 25-28 rigs. There are 45 stalls provided and water spigots available to all. Bring your own hoses. Campers must clean out their own corrals and, as always, we leave it better than we found it.

Go to our Facebook page to enjoy photos from our 2017 Cuyamaca Camp Out. It was a blast!

We are looking forward to doing it all again in 2018, see you at Cuyamaca!

VPR Logo Building Confidence around Cows for Both Horse & Rider

horsecow gail2

June 30, July 1 & 2nd Cost: $125.00 (includes both days)

Members Only Clinic

Gail Cantrell will be helping us put on a clinic, since VPR does Ranch sorting at Wagon Wheel, and riders come across cows on many trails in San Diego County. We thought it would be a good idea to teach the basics to members new to cows, or with a new horse to cows.

This Clinic is for members new to Cows, or with a new horse to cows, registration will be open for beginners until June 18th (Father's Day). Members with some limited experience may also benefit from this clinic, and are encouraged to register, by June 18th.
